The Inhumanity of Man

Lately, I have been struggling with the sadness and horror I feel when seeing and thinking about the wicked things people do. Hurting people, hurting animals, destroying things, and being violent on purpose. When I think about these things I feel like I could and would kill people who do such evil things. I think I understand people who try to kill people who work at abortion clinics. I definitely have felt like I understand Ted. Theologically, the best answer Christianity provides is simply that we cannot understand, but can have faith that God does understand the persistence of evil. This is a difficult answer to accept. It is difficult to accept such wickedness without understanding why it is. We must accept that we must exist in the world with it and be affected by it. The only consolation is that we can work to lessen our own individual wickedness, though we can never fully rid ourselves of it. Only Christ has done that.
